Terms and Conditions

By participating in the 2023 Summer Chapbook Contest ("the Contest"), you agree to the following terms and conditions:
 

  1. Eligibility: The Contest is open to poets of all nationalities, aged 18 and above. Employees, affiliates, and immediate family members of the contest organizers are not eligible to participate.

  2. Submission Guidelines: Submissions must be original, unpublished chapbook manuscripts in English. The manuscript should consist of a collection of twenty-five poems. Please follow the specified formatting guidelines provided on the Contest webpage.

  3. Entry Fee: A non-refundable entry fee of $25-$100 (USD) is required for each submission. Payment must be made through the designated payment method specified on the Contest webpage.

  4. Submission Process: Submissions must be made electronically following the instructions specified on the Contest webpage. Participants may submit multiple manuscripts submitted and paid for individually. 

  5. Judging and Selection: All submissions will be evaluated by a panel of judges appointed by the contest organizers. The judging process will be anonymous, and the judges' decision will be final. The selected chapbook manuscript will be announced on the Contest webpage and the winner will be notified by email.

  6. Prizes: The winner of the Contest will receive a publishing contract of their chapbook by Jack Wild Publishing. By accepting the prize, the contest winner agrees to abide by all the policies, terms, and conditions set forth by Jack Wild Publishing. Any violation of these policies may result in termination of the publishing contract.

  7. Copyright and Ownership: Participants retain the copyright and ownership of their submitted work. However, by participating in the Contest, participants grant Jack Wild Publishing the right to publish the winning chapbook, including the poems contained therein, in print and digital formats. Jack Wild Publishing also reserves the right to use excerpts or samples of the submitted chapbook for promotional purposes.

  8. Publicity and Promotion: By entering the Contest, participants grant Jack Wild Publishing the right to use their name, biographical information, and likeness in connection with the promotion of the Contest and the winning chapbook, without any further compensation.

  9. Disqualification: The contest organizers reserve the right to disqualify any participant who violates the submission guidelines, provides false information, engages in plagiarism, or breaches any of the terms and conditions outlined herein.

  10. Liability: Participants agree that Jack Wild Publishing and its affiliates shall not be held responsible for any loss, damage, or injury arising from or in connection with their participation in the Contest or acceptance of any prizes.

  11. Modifications and Termination: The contest organizers reserve the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the Contest at any time and for any reason, without prior notice.
     

By submitting your entry to the 2023 Summer Chapbook Contest, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to comply with these terms and conditions.

Terms and Conditions for AVALON Anthology:
 

  1. Submission Guidelines: By submitting your work to Jack Wild Publishing, you acknowledge and agree to comply with the submission guidelines outlined on our website. These guidelines include formatting requirements, word limits, and submission deadlines. Failure to adhere to these guidelines may result in the rejection of your submission.

  2. Original Work: All submissions to AVALON Anthology must be original work created by the author. Plagiarism or the use of copyrighted material without permission is strictly prohibited. By submitting your work, you affirm that it is your original creation and that you hold all necessary rights to publish the content.

  3. Publication Rights: By submitting your work, you grant us the non-exclusive rights to publish your poem(s) in our anthology and any associated promotional materials, both in print and digital formats. However, the copyright of the work remains with the author of each individual work, and they retain the right to publish their work elsewhere after it has been featured in AVALON Anthology.

  4. Payment: Jack Wild Publishing offers a paid publication option along with the 2023 Summer Chapbook Contest entry fee for poets to guarantee the inclusion of their work in our anthology. Payment must be made in full prior to publication.

  5. Editorial Discretion: While the paid publication guarantees the inclusion of your work in the specified issue, Jack Wild Publishing reserves the right to review submissions for quality. In the event that a submission does not meet our editorial standards, we will work with the author to provide feedback or offer an alternative solution, such as resubmission or refund of the publication fee.

  6. Compensation: The payment made for publication in AVALON Anthology covers the cost of featuring your work in the specified issue. As such, no additional monetary compensation beyond the paid publication is provided. We do, however, offer exposure to a wide readership and the opportunity to showcase your work to our audience.

  7. Rights Reversion: If your poem(s) are published in AVALON Anthology, you retain the copyright and ownership of your work. We do not claim any exclusive rights beyond the initial publication. Should you wish to republish your poem(s) elsewhere, we kindly request that you acknowledge AVALON Anthology as the original place of publication.

  8. Confidentiality: Jack Wild Publishing treats all submissions with the utmost confidentiality. We respect your privacy and will not share your work or personal information with any third parties without your explicit consent. However, please note that once your work is published, it becomes publicly accessible and may be shared by readers and followers of Jack Wild Publishing.

  9. Communication: All communication regarding submissions, publication, and related matters will be conducted through the contact information provided by the author. It is the responsibility of the author to ensure that the provided contact information is accurate and up to date. Jack Wild Publishing will not be held liable for any communication issues arising from incorrect or outdated contact information.

  10. Policy Updates: Jack Wild Publishing reserves the right to modify or update these Terms and Conditions at any time. It is the responsibility of the author to review and familiarize themselves with the current Terms and Conditions before submitting their work.
     

By submitting your work to AVALON Anthology, you indicate your acceptance and agreement to these Terms and Conditions. We appreciate your support and look forward to reading your submissions.
